Abstrak

This article explores the contemporary Islamic ideology from the perspective of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, specifically focusing on Islamic reforms in Türkiye. The article employed qualitative literature review, while the data is subjected to content analysis for examination. Research findings indicate that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stood as a prominent figure in 19th-century Islamic reform, having made substantial contributions to altering the Turkish populace’s mindset. He achieved this by redefining the longstanding traditions of the Ottoman Empire, presenting a new mindset that does not fundamentally alter “Islam.” He modified Muslims’ ways of thinking and living to suit the demands of the era. True Islamic values can be established within a state adopting the forms of a caliphate, a republic, or even a secular nation. While symbols hold significance, the paramount importance lies in people integrating the essence of Islam into all aspects of societal existence. As a result of his ideas, Türkiye has evolved into an advanced nation, on par with the rest of the world, thus demonstrating that Islamic governance can harmoniously meet the demands of contemporary times.
